Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
The Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP), which is part of Canada’s Atlantic Growth Strategy, is aimed to solve labor shortages in the Atlantic provinces of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.
The pilot program is part of an overall Atlantic development strategy that focuses on the following priority areas:
- Skilled Workforce and Immigration
- Innovation
- Clean development and climate change
- Business and investment
For skilled workers, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot provides two programs:
- Atlantic High Skilled Program
- Atlantic Intermediate-Skilled Program
And one program for international student graduates:
- Atlantic International Graduate Program
Your qualifications for the program in specific areas of work experience, education and job offers depend on your particular situation when applying, such as a skilled worker or international graduate.
Who can apply? – AIPP
Persons fulfilling the following criteria are eligible to apply:
Labor class
Work Experience Persons fulfilling the following criteria are eligible to apply: Labor Category Work Experience
Workers can apply as high-skilled or intermediate-skilled employees.
Highly skilled workers must have work experience in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) skill type level 0, A or B.
Intermediate-skilled workers must have work experience at NOC skill level C obtained from inside or outside Canada.
Language
For language requirements, the applicant must
- Have at least a level four (4) in the Canadian language benchmark in English or Niveaux de compétenceLinguistiqueCanadiens in French
- Take an accepted language test, lasting no more than two years, indicating that the applicant meets speaking, listening, reading and writing levels
Proof of Funds
Applicants will need to show that they have sufficient funds to support themselves and their families after immigration, based on their family unit number. Applicants are not required to show proof if they are already living and working in Canada with a valid work permit.
